About CreditDoc

What is CreditDoc?

CreditDoc is a free comparison and review website for researching credit repair companies, personal lenders, debt relief services, and other financial products. We organize public and provider data so you can compare options with more context.

Is CreditDoc free to use?

Yes, CreditDoc is free for consumers. We earn revenue through affiliate partnerships with some of the companies listed on our site. When you click certain links and sign up, we may receive a referral fee. This never affects editorial reviews, correction decisions, or stored Google rating data.

How does CreditDoc make money?

We earn commissions when visitors click affiliate links on our site and sign up for services. This is clearly disclosed on every page. Compensation does not determine whether a provider can be covered, correction decisions, or stored Google rating data. Learn more on our Disclosure page.

Who runs CreditDoc?

CreditDoc is a property of Cosmic Phoenix LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. Our editorial team has over a decade of experience in consumer finance.

Ratings & Reviews

How do you rate companies?

When CreditDoc shows a star rating, it is the stored Google rating with the stored Google review count. We do not create a public CreditDoc star score. Separately, our editorial reviews assess public data such as company details, pricing, BBB information, CFPB complaints, licensing or regulatory records, and service availability. Full details are on our Methodology page.

Where does your data come from?

We collect data from multiple public and provider sources including Google Maps reviews, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the FDIC, NCUA, HUD-approved counseling agencies, and direct company research.

How often are reviews updated?

Update timing varies by page and data source. Pricing, service tiers, Google ratings, BBB ratings, CFPB complaints, and regulatory changes are refreshed when updated public or provider data is available.

Can companies pay to change ratings or visibility?

No. Companies cannot pay to change a stored Google rating, review count, editorial review, displayed research note, or correction decision. We cover many companies that have no affiliate relationship with us.

I think a review is inaccurate. How do I report it?

Email us at contact@creditdoc.co with the subject line "Correction Request." Include the page URL, what you believe is incorrect, and the correct information with a source if possible. We aim to review correction requests within 5 business days.

Credit Repair

What is credit repair?

Credit repair is the process of reviewing and disputing inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable information on your credit reports with the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion). Credit repair companies may help identify and challenge reported errors, but outcomes depend on the facts in each file.

Is credit repair legal?

Yes. Credit repair is legal and protected by federal law. The Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) regulates credit repair companies and gives consumers the right to dispute inaccurate information on their credit reports. Companies should not promise or advertise specific credit-repair results.

How much does credit repair cost?

Credit repair pricing commonly includes monthly fees, setup fees, or pay-per-deletion structures, depending on the provider. Under federal credit-repair rules, fee timing and contract terms matter, so review the written agreement before paying.

How long does credit repair take?

Credit repair timelines vary by the number and nature of disputed items, bureau investigation cycles, furnisher responses, and whether the disputed information can be verified. Treat timing claims as provider-stated information to check before enrollment.

Can I repair my credit myself?

Yes. Many credit-report dispute steps can be handled directly by consumers at no cost. You can request your credit reports at AnnualCreditReport.com, identify errors, and file disputes directly with the credit bureaus. Credit repair companies may offer convenience and process support, but self-repair is an option to compare.

Personal Loans & Debt

What types of lenders does CreditDoc cover?

We cover personal loan providers, credit repair companies, debt relief and settlement services, credit counseling agencies (including HUD-approved), buy-here-pay-here dealers, check cashing services, pawn shops, and other consumer financial services.

What is debt relief?

Debt relief is an umbrella term for strategies and services used to address debt that has become difficult to manage. This can include debt settlement, debt management plans, credit counseling, and debt consolidation loans, each with different costs and risks.

How do I compare service types?

It depends on your situation. If you have errors on your credit report, credit repair may be relevant. If you are struggling with debt payments, debt relief or credit counseling may be worth researching. If you need funds for a specific purpose, a personal loan may be one option to compare. Our category guides provide context for comparing the main paths.

Privacy & Your Data

Does CreditDoc collect my personal information?

We collect minimal data: standard web analytics (IP address, browser type, pages visited) via Google Analytics, and your email address if you contact us. We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, credit scores, or any sensitive financial data.

Does CreditDoc sell my data?

No. CreditDoc does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. See our Do Not Sell page and Privacy Policy for full details.

What happens when I click an affiliate link?

When you click an affiliate link, you are taken to the third-party company's website. That company may collect information about you under their own privacy policy. CreditDoc does not control what third parties do with your data after you leave our site.
